Meeting Highlights, April 17, 2017:

Treasurer’s Report – Marcia Pensa reported the bank balance at the end of March was $5825.58. Ethel Mitrovic will work with Marcia and assume the Treasurer’s responsibilities.

Equipment for Presentations - Gerry Cutting purchased and set up the new projector for the guest speaker tonight. The cost was $570.46. Elizabeth with add this item to the Guild asset list.

The microphone used last meeting is not working and needs to be replaced. Gerry researched the cost and reported there is one for approx. $300 that would be suitable for meetings. Motion to purchase was approved.

Diane Dobson and S’ine reported that the annual art show is scheduled for November 10, 11, 12 at the CASO Station. The deposit has been paid and the contract will be reviewed and signed in May.

We have several more volunteers for the 2017 executive (The names for this year’s executive can be seen in the link to the right).

Carolyne McLeod and Diane Dobson volunteered to donate the two works of art needed for the CASO station fundraiser this year. Thank you!

Announcements/Community Events:

* Lambeth Art Show – April 27, 28 and 29. Held at the same church as previous years.
* Art Appreciation at Christ Church in 31st year May 10, 11, 12 and 13. Free Admission. You can show art and leave business cards (no selling of art). Mary Tuff is a contact person.
* Off the Wall – Quai du Vin on July 16 from 11:00 am - 5:00 pm. Kim Yuhasz contact.

Off the Wall – Quai du Vin on July 16 from 11:00 am - 5:00 pm. Members can submit application until the end of March. There are currently 6 spots open in the tent area or you can bring your own tent. One day fee is $50. Kim Yuhasz has more detail.

St. Thomas-Elgin Artists’ Guild 10th Annual Show & Sale

Just in time for Christmas, the St. Thomas-Elgin Artists’ Guild presents its 10th annual show at the CASO Railway Station in downtown St. Thomas! Original work by a diverse group of very creative local artists working in a wide variety of exciting media. Announcements/Events from Sept. 19th, 2016 STEAG Meeting

STEAG Annual Art Show
·         Joyce Rintoul noted there are still a few volunteer times to fill in over the show weekend.  Baked goods are needed to be dropped off Friday of the show weekend. 
·         Hardcopy submission sheets for the STEAG Art Show should be handed in at tonight’s meeting or the October meeting (with fees).  Reminder: Artwork size includes the frame.  Please submit Artist Bios at the same time to Bonnie McLean.
·         Nilestown signs (not Van Pelt’s) did the advertising this year. There will be an artist’s sign, a sign at Giant Tiger and a banner on CASO for the show.  Carol McGrath will be writing an article. Marcia will ask the newspaper if they will do an article in the Weekly News (as in previous years).
·         Sue Garrington has agreed to be a judge at the show. 
·         Please note: matted work needs to be in crystal clear bags (purchase at Gunthries/Curries) with acid free cardboard backing for displaying on racks. Wires (D rings) need to be on the back of art for hanging, taped on the edge to prevent scratching other artworks. Oversize is 24” wide and up.
·         Robin Baratta circulated a sheet asking for information on the number of racks (and size) available for the show. Please let Robin know if you have a rack. Racks/Stands should be labelled with your name.
·         Please sign up for advertising drop off locations, take posters and distribute the information locally everywhere.  Advertising has started and will continue.  Members can also create an event on their Facebook pages and share a few weeks before the event.

Acrylic Art with Heather Keating Saturday, September 24 at the St. Thomas Library from 11-4. The theme is landscapes (examples available or bring a photo) $30 fee for supplies if needed. Contact Heather to register and get a materials list. Heather also has weekly sessions in her home for $20 per session with materials supplied.

Katherine Medlyn is providing free stained glass classes for youth ages 14-17. Contact Katherine for dates/times for beginner and advanced classes.

Announcements/Community Events from Aug. 15th, 2016 STEAG Meeting

Painting by Diane Dobson “The Cradle” mixed media and sculpture by Bonnie McLean “Falstaff” polymer clay and fabric. 

STEAG Annual Art Show – Joyce Rintoul noted hardcopy submission sheets for the STEAG Art Show should be handed in at the September/October meetings with the fees. They can also be mailed (with fees) to Marcia Pensa. Please submit Artist Bios at the same time to Bonnie McLean. Thanks go to the volunteers donating art pieces for the draw at the Annual Show: Elizabeth Bourque, Jerry Cutting and Catherine McCoy. S’ine Maule reported entertainment has been arranged for the Show. Heather Keating will contact judges do the Judges Award (unless someone else would like to volunteer). If you have any names to suggest, please forward.

Signup sheets were available at the meeting for members to volunteer their time during the Art Show. Members are encouraged to participate as much as possible.

After members voted on the art at the meeting, the following were announced as having the most votes with Jerry Cutting to take the pictures for the Annual Art Show poster. Painting by Diane Dobson “The Cradle” mixed media and sculpture by Bonnie McLean “Falstaff” polymer clay and fabric.
